Café

So far, there have been two major strikes in Paris in the (almost) month that we
have been here. With those odds, there are likely going to be a lot more days
where all we can do is avoid the metro (by hiring a bike instead) and drink a lot
of coffee.
This relatively large sign hoisted up by cranes just outside the Luxembourg Gardens (where the
French Senate meets) reads: "Ladies and Gentlemen of the Senate, Do not vote. This reform is
unjust." The senate was meeting today to vote on increasing the retirement age in France from 60
to 62. The general vibe is that it is going to happen anyway, but I think Paris will see several more
strikes in the coming weeks!

  1. Thank you for clarifying all of that! I would have alternatively pretended that I understood everything simply by looking at the photo and the word "strike".
