Copenhagen

A visit from family warranted a little visit to Scandanavia. After spending a week
in Paris with them, it was only fair that we spent a few days in Copenhagen,
(their future home) with them, so that they could show us their life the way that
we had shown them ours.

Luke was beside himself with joy – Copenhagen is the home to some of the best
Baristas in the world, most noteably those who work at The Coffee Collective,
where we visited a few times, and enjoyed some of the best filter coffee either of
us have ever had.

To my delight, we found a beautiful cemetery and garden just near the café,
where we had a visit from a little red friend, We spent a bit of time in England
earlier this year, on a few different occasions, and each time I was desperate for
a squirrel encounter like this, but alas it never came. I was so exited to meet this
little guy!

Another great experience was visiting Christiana- a self-proclaimed independent
state within the city of Copenhagen, which was founded in the 60's on the basis
of freedom for all citizens. It has one law- that each citizen is free to do whatever
he or she wishes as long as it doesn’t impede the freedom of other citizens. We
felt quite out of place walking around, obviously tourists come to see this
hippie-like existence, but the people seemed friendly enough and it was worth a
look to see that a place like this can really exist in the middle of a capital city.

Thanks go out to Ann and the other Barretts for showing us around, putting us
up, and putting up with us for a few days.
