The main benefit from being away from loved ones, is having a legitimate excuse
to write them letters. One thing I have really enjoyed for the last 8 months, is
sitting down, carefully matching loved one to card, and putting pen to paper.
Often this has occurred on a quiet night in over a glass of wine and a Laura
Marling CD or two. I like it when I haven't heard from someone in a month or
two, and then suddenly I find news from them in my letterbox. I hope that I can
continue this tradition once I am home.. but it seems sort of pointless writing a
letter when you could just grab a coffee. Now that I have an endless supply of
postcards, cute stationary and letter writing sets, I think that I need to keep the
tradition going.
