4 courses is just enough.

I felt very Parisian this week. Luke and I went out for dinner with two American
friends, just around the corner from our house. We started with a glass of red at
a little natural wine bar. Our friend Ian knows a lot more about wine than we do,
so he chose one especially for what we said we appreciated taste wise, and
explained to us all of the different types of grapes and tastes that wine therefore
has. We then strolled up the hill towards the Pantheon and got a table at a tiny
little French restaurant, with a 17 euro menu for 3 courses. The owner was
friendly and hilarious, which made the evening so much nicer when compared
with the potential rudeness of french waiters. I had the terrine a la campagne,
steak and chips with aiolie, and chocolate mousse. We had a course of cheese
thrown in the middle there too. It was such a beautiful evening, watching the sun
go down on the Eglise-St-Etienne-Du-Mont, chatting about being foreigners in
Paris and trying our hardest to be French. I think we managed quite well.
