Le Goûter

Viennoise and Pain au chocolat, Luxembourg gardens.
School kids in France have it made. I learnt whilst working at the French school
in Sydney, that when little kids get picked up from school, it is standard practice
that whoever comes to fetch them must also bring some kind of afternoon tea
treat that is usualy chocolate themed. This tradition has proved to be true here
too, as my little frenchie and I stop for afternoon tea, or "goûter"each afternoon.
She ususally has a mixture of baked goods and fruit, and I have an epic treat
known as a viennoise, which is sort of like a sweet baguette with chocolate chips
baked into it. The bakery we pass makes them fresh for school finishing time,
and they are usually still warm when we pick one up. Amazing.
