As soon as someone mentions the word “touristy” I am out. One of the things
that I don’t like about Paris is the watered down, tour-guide version of Paris; the
best monuments in the world at lightning speed. This is no way to experience a
city or a culture like Paris. So when I read over and over again that the Parisian
chain of “Salon de thes” Laduree was a must stop shop for any tourist in paris, I
was turned off a little bit. Boy was I wrong. How could I have let myself live in
Paris now for almost 5 months (!) and not have been consuming macaroons from
Laduree by the barrel load?

Luke was recently blessed with a special visitor from home, who has a bit of a
sweet tooth and knows his pastry. They made a bee line for Laduree and raved
about it ever since. The next spare moment we had, Luke and I caught the bus
(our new favourite mode of transport together- you get to actually SEE Paris!
Who’d have thought!) down to Laduree at St Germain, ordered 6 of their finest,
Chocolate, Green Apple, Raspberry, Rose, Vanilla |
Like a mini chocolate cake, but better! |
Tastes like apple mentos in a baked good! |
Needless to say, I have been back there each day since.
My favourites: Chocolate, Rasberry & Salted Caramel.
